Nature's omnipresence

Refresh yourself in great landscapes

Pacing the avenues of Paris can be exhausting, and after a few kilometers the call of nature can make itself felt. Luckily, it’s very easy to access the two magnificent woods that frame Paris and breathe in the fresh air. Designed under the Second Empire, the layout of the woods (imagined by Adolphe Alphand, head of the promenades and plantations department) has remained unchanged.

A range of activities

Whether in the Bois de Vincennes (to the east) or the Bois de Boulogne (to the west), you’ll find all kinds of activities to spend an unforgettable afternoon in the shade of the oaks. Hippodrome, amusement park, tennis court, country guinguette or botanical garden, the infrastructures are as numerous as they are enjoyable.

In addition to these engaging green spaces, there are over 500 parks and gardens in Paris to stroll through. The best-known are the Tuileries and Luxembourg gardens, but others are well worth a visit, such as the Parc des Buttes Chaumont, with its temple overlooking northeast Paris from its cliff, or the Parc de Bercy, nicknamed the “romantic garden”.

Finally, hidden from view, many gardens grow fruit and vegetables on the rooftops of Paris. More niche, their access is regulated, but with the right arguments it may be possible to gain entry.
